BLS Asphalt is a fast-growing, locally owned company. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paving Screed Operator to join our Paving Crew. You will be responsible for controlling the screed on the asphalt paving machine to ensure the material is laid at the correct depth, slope and grade. Your expertise will directly impact the quality of our paving projects.

Responsibilities:
- Screed Operation -Setting and adjusting the angle, depth and slope of the screed to meet project specifications.
- Material Control -Regulate the flow of hot Asphalt mix to ensure uniform distribution and prevent segregation.
- Collaboration - Maintain Constant communication with the Paver Operator and Crew Foreman to manage paving speed and continuity.
- Quality Assurance - Use depth gauges to verify thickness of compacted asphalt and ensure a seamless mat finish.
- Maintenance - Perform daily pre-operational checks, lubrication, and minor adjustments to the screed and extensions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience - Minimum (2 - 5) years of experience specifically operating an asphalt screed.
- Technical Knowledge - Deep understanding of asphalt properties, paving techniques and grade control systems.
- Physical Demands - ability to lift up to 50lbs, work on your feet for long hours and endure extreme outdoor temperatures (heat, dust and noise).
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license (Heavy Trailer Endorsement G an asset).
- Safety First - Commitment to safety protocols; Certifications of First aid and CPR are an asset.
- Flexibility - Willingness to work overtime, nights and weekends as project schedules dictate.
- Drivers abstract required.
